![]() “Hey, Reggie, want to go to Hogsmeade with us this weekend?” Was he out of his mind? Of course, he didn’t know, about what happened between him and James, but it still seemed reckless. They were almost away when his brother shouted something at him. Or his dad used it when Regulus asked if he could play with the other half-blood children outside when he was young. Not that kind of laugh, his mom used when she punished his brother for another rebellious act. ![]() He could hear them laughing about something Sirius said. It was his brother and his new friends, including James. Regulus tried really hard not to turn his head when a group of boys walked past their table. “Yeah, you either love or hate Marmite, and no one from France ever liked it.” Regulus smiled slightly at this, but he still couldn’t understand how could someone eat something so disgusting. “Sorry mate, we do this every year don’t take it personally.” Said Evan, still cackling. Everyone suddenly burst out laughing, looking at him with pity. ![]() “Ew, why would anyone put so much salt in this?! Don’t the Brits have any sense of taste?” He said, quickly flushing the taste from his tongue with a coffee. When he took a bite, his mouth curled into a grimace. Then, he took a small amount out of it, with the butter knife he used a few seconds ago and put it on a part of his toast. “Well, it's this salty spread, and I think it's pretty good.” The boy unscrewed the lid and carefully smelled the liquid inside. “What is it?” Reg was looking at the jar, trying hard not to look at the back of it for calories. Regulus had no idea how could the Brits consume such an amount, of eggs and beans, so instead he grabbed a plain toast and spread butter over it, “Why don’t you try, and put marmite on your toast instead?” Asked Pandora, handing him a jar of a black liquid. No one had any idea where Severus was, but they didn’t seem to mind his absence, and everyone began to scoop out scrambled eggs on their plates. They walked the path Reg became familiar with, over the last two months, to the canteen, where breakfast was served. Evan, Barty and now also Dorcas and Pandora, who were the boys’ friends waited for him in front of the building, the dorms were in. It was November, and it was slowly starting to get colder. He put on a pair of Doc Martens, which he got from his cousin Andromeda, a black scarf, and a trench coat. And even if he wanted to, many times, there was always his older brother, making sure he didn’t spiral back. After years of recovering from his eating disorder, Regulus was able not to puke his food back to the toilet, but the appetite still wasn’t there. But Sirius made it clear that his body needs fuel. The thing was, he didn’t really like food. “Huh, no sorry, what did you say”Ī breakfast, Reg wasn’t hungry at all, but he made sure he always ate something. “Oi, you listening Black?” Barty’s voice pulled him back from his thoughts. Every time, he wanted to light a cigarette he couldn’t shake off the feeling of James’ lips touching his. He couldn't get the boy out of his head, no matter how hard he tried. But the fact that James felt the same, changed a lot. Regulus would maybe be upset about it, but eventually, he would get over his crush. Maybe he liked James, but it would be for the best if he didn’t like him back. Sirius told him several times, that it was okay and quite normal at their age, but no matter how much his brother reassured him, he could always hear his mother’s voice somewhere in the back of his head. Which, surprisingly wasn’t that bad, (She just told him that he has to represent the Black family properly five times.) Regulus refused to go back to the party, neither anywhere near James. Regulus was now sitting on his bed, anxiously fidgeting with his silver rings. An irresponsible act, that shouldn't have happened.
